I was very intrigued by this source in particular because I wasn't very informed on the history of the Federal Communications Commission. I was expecting to just find past information on views of the ideology of repealing Net Neutrality, but I found the history of past corruption with the FCC as well, not just the views of recent controversy in the U.S.

"The best way to understand Net Neutrality is to think of the internet as a sort of congested super highway with most of the fast lanes being taken up by big fat trucks carrying content, like Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. In 2015, the Obama administration ruled those big companies cannot pay to dominate those fast lanes."
This video is summarizing the beginning's of the alteration of net neutrality. It focuses on the main factor of the downfall of net neutrality, explaining that larger companies that have customers pay more for internet speed are no longer legal and must succumb to slower network downloads. This concept also explains the newest controversy on overpriced cable and internet services due to companies still aiming to turn a high profit for less services.

I did not realize the tough position that cable and internet services were put in due to the Obama Administration. I resonated with the idea that the price of high speed internet should cost more because the companies themselves paid for faster lanes, but now I can sympathize with the reasoning behind why those providers were still requiring more money from customers because high speed internet wasn't available anymore.

Reaction
The way that some lawmaker's are going about preserving Net Neutrality is shocking because it seems as though they are still very uneducated about the topic still. Marsha Blackburn is misunderstanding the point that yes, everyone wants their internet and cable providers to have free reign over being able to purchase high speed data, but not still have free reign over charging customers without the presence of the high speed data.

www.wired.com/story/fcc-wants-to-kill-net-neutrality-congress-will-pay-the-price/
This article focuses on the price that Congress will have to pay because of the FCC wanting to kill net neutrality. "If Congress allows Pai’s plan to pass, all that will be left of FCC oversight of broadband providers is a weak disclosure requirement: If Verizon, for example, wants to block content, charge sites to be viewable on its network, or create paid fast lanes, the company will simply have to tell its subscribers in their contract’s fine print." This basically states that if the bill to repeal Net Neutrality goes through, then the internet and cable services would only have to advertise the changes of blocked content in the fine print of the contract, not advertised easily.

Reaction
I discovered a real breakthrough with civilians views and how they are more recently able to look to the government for guidance. It is rare that that during times of nation wide governmental issues that people turn to the government to actually resonate with their views and not oppose them. This is a troubling time in our nations lawmaking history that one branch of government can find no way to officially find a common ground with influencing another government agency to construct a bill for the people that is actually FOR the people. Not for the revenue, not for the gain of overpowering smaller service providers that cater to the average American, but for the purpose of promoting a stable economy for the citizen's benefit and not just for a profitable agenda to state officials.

Reaction
I have found several other articles that explain the myths behind Net Neutrality but this article was the only one that gave the source and birthplace so to speak of these fallacies. For example, when Congress began to receive millions of emails and phone calls from American's that opposed the repeal, "The FCC writes off these comments by stating that "the commenting process is not an opinion poll," and then suggesting that Russian hackers or operatives sent the emails." The FCC used the fear revolved around another controversial topic in the U.S. to disregard the fear that they were implementing.

I was ultimately extremely surprised to even have to process in my head that this bill would be passed, especially towards the end of this project. It was made a point by the Supreme Court that the uproar from U.S. citizens was of such conflicting matters to have to try and compromise with the passing of the bill.
